We have a number of Japanese Anemones in our gardens and ‘Honorine Jobert’ here, like ‘Robustissima’, toes the line of being too vigorous for its own good. That said, it sure is a lovely sight as the garden around it goes quiet.

We can all use more Goldenrod, no? This is Solidago sphacelata ‘Golden Fleece’ lighting up the front of the garden in the home stretch. This is a Mt. Cuba Center introduction (of garden origin) that tops out around 24” tall and sees notable pollinator traffic beginning in late summer.

Dramatic skies tonight, maybe due to what’s churning offshore? I really hope our little Dahlia patch isn’t flattened this weekend - it’s just too pretty to lose right now. We were excited to get our grubby paws on a few of the spectacular pansies developed by Isao Sato and brought to the US by Tagawa Greenhouse 🌱. They (these are members of the Twilight series) are every bit as lovely as advertised and are deliciously fragrant to boot. Keep an eye out for these next spring.
