In celebration of the Reyn Spooner x Kamaka Ukulele 110th Anniversary print, we had the privilege of visiting the Kamaka factory in Kakaʻako to witness the craft behind one of Hawaiʻi’s most treasured traditions. From the careful curing and cutting of koa sourced from Hawaiʻi Island to the shaping, finishing, and final stringing of each instrument, every step is carried out by skilled artisans whose knowledge has been refined over generations. The care, patience, and respect for the material can be felt throughout the entire process—and ultimately, in every Kamaka ʻukulele. It is a true honor to create a print celebrating 110 years of Kamaka Ukulele and the extraordinary craftsmanship, family legacy, and cultural heritage behind the name. As part of our 70th Anniversary celebration, we’re opening the archive in a new way with Reyn Spooner Authentic Vintage—a series of limited, online-exclusive drops featuring original vintage Reyn Spooner pieces, hand-selected by our team. Every shirt has lived a life before arriving here. Each one carries its own character, history, and patina, making it truly one of a kind. Once a piece finds a new home, it’s gone for good. Our first collection looks back to the formative years of the brand with a curated selection of rare shirts from the 1960s and 1970s. Released before Reyn Spooner had fully established its signature design language, these pieces capture an era when the company was evolving from Reyn’s Menswear into the brand we know today. Crafted in Hawaiʻi using some of the finest fabrics of the time—including iconic textiles by legendary designer Alfred Shaheen—these shirts showcase the details that defined the era: longer ‘70s collars, vintage labels, distinctive silhouettes, and construction techniques that tell the story of Hawaiʻi sportswear at its peak.
