Five signals on the board this week, and one place to put attention. A key shipping chokepoint tightened again: vessel traffic fell to zero on Sunday after attacks on commercial ships, and diesel now runs 47% above last year. The Colorado River set a second record in nine days, with Lake Powell breaking its own low on August 15. Water utility intrusions held steady, though one state revised its own tally up to 40 communities, and the flaw involved still has no patch. New this week: a derecho and record flooding in Indiana left seven dead and 300,000 without power, and a lettuce-linked outbreak grew to 9,481 illnesses across 17 states. Fuel moved most. If your heat, generator, or work truck runs on diesel, this is the week to check what you have stored. Most flashlights solve one problem. Darkness. That’s useful, but it’s not enough when you’re dealing with a real emergency. The Grid Doctor Tactical Flashlight gives you more than basic light. It delivers a 1,000 lumen adjustable beam for long-range visibility, lantern mode for area lighting, red and blue emergency signals to help you stay visible, rechargeable power for devices and built-in vehicle escape tools. A basic flashlight helps you see. This puts light and backup power in your hands so you can see, signal, charge and respond. That’s the difference between carrying a flashlight and carrying a real backup plan. For the truck. For the nightstand. For the emergency kit. For the person who would rather be ready than caught empty-handed.

Five things worth tracking this week, and one move that covers the two biggest. Still tracking: • Energy chokepoint, steady. The reopening deal is stuck in limbo and oil climbed again, with diesel still above $5.30. • Colorado River, escalating. Lake Mead just set its lowest level since the 1930s, and Lake Powell is weeks from its own record. • Water systems under cyberattack, escalating. The campaign on municipal utilities has spread from 7 states to at least 12. New this week: • Egg prices are turning back up as July's flock losses reach the register. • The cattle border reopens August 24, and beef prices are already easing off their peak. The throughline is water. The oldest advice in preparedness is suddenly the most current: store it before you need it. One gallon per person per day, two weeks if you can. 🔋Three things people learn about backup power the hard way: 1. Recharge speed decides everything. Once an outage stretches past day one, you're living on whatever the sun gives you. Panel capacity is the difference between rationing phone charges and keeping the fridge cold. ⚡ 2. Your best sunlight is almost never next to your house. Shade, roof lines, and storm debris push panels out into the yard, and a short cord forces bad placement. Reach matters more than people expect. 🌤 3. The electronics you didn't protect are the ones you miss most. Lightning and surges don't announce themselves, and a dead radio or backup battery helps nobody. 💻 This week we're including the fix for all three with the Grid Doctor 3300: a 200W panel, a 75-foot cord, and a 110L faraday bag. Details in the first comment. What did your last long outage teach you that you didn't expect?

A pantry packed with rice, pasta, and crackers looks like security. It isn't. Calories keep you moving, but protein, vitamins, and minerals are what keep you standing in a crisis. And that's exactly what many emergency food supplies leave out. See the nutrients your emergency food can't afford to skip.

There is a company called Flock Safety. Most people cannot name it even though they drive past its equipment several times a day. More than 120,000 cameras across 49 states, under contract with roughly 5,000 communities, 4,500 law enforcement agencies, and about a thousand private businesses. Neighborhood entrances. Grocery store lots. School zones. They were sold as license plate readers. Flock's own product material describes what else gets logged: make, model, body type, color, bumper stickers and decals, roof racks, back racks, toolboxes, and whether your plate is covered, temporary, or missing. Plus the time and place of every pass. Records are held 30 days by default. The agency decides if it runs longer. You cannot see your own record. You cannot correct it. No federal law gives you that right. There was no ballot measure in most places and no sign at the city limit. Some cities have started cancelling their contracts, which tells you something. Look up whether they are on your street. Most people are surprised. #MyPatriotSupply #Surveillance #ALPR #DataPrivacy #flockoff #FlockSafety
