Oriana’s Orchard | August 1, 2026 | Winslow, IL Fifty years ago, Oriana Kruszewski left Hong Kong for the unforgiving winters of northern Illinois, and never stopped growing. Today her orchard holds Asian pears, black currants, and pawpaws. Each one decades in the making. We set the table right where it all grows. Chef César Murillo of Michelin-starred North Pond has his own history here, some of Oriana’s trees now grow at his restaurant in Chicago. His menu wove Mexican heritage through her fruit, technique meeting soil in real time. Alongside him, Chef Devon Quinn of Eden brought a greenhouse-forward, Midwest-rooted style. The kind of collaboration that makes a night like this feel inevitable rather than arranged. The table moved from pastry and whipped ricotta through a cantaloupe gazpacho brightened by Oriana’s own pear vinegar, past pickled cornelian cherry “”olives”” and coal-roasted beets, to a buckwheat shortcake finished with her berry-pear gastrique — her orchard, traced across every course.
