Three Ways to Create with the Colorations® Giant Spin Art Center//There is something magical about watching colors swirl, blend, & burst into masterpieces. The @colorationsart Giant Spin Art Center from @discountschoolsupply combines movement, creativity, & hands-on exploration while encouraging children to experiment with color, motion, + cause & effect. One of our favorite things about this art center is its versatility. Simply changing the materials creates a whole new artistic experience. Here are three of our favorite ways to use it. 1. Fluorescent Paint: Our first invitation featured Colorations® Fluorescent BioColor® Paint. Children squeezed small amounts of paint onto the paper, then turned the wheel to watch vibrant colors stretch into spirals & unexpected patterns. Each spin created a unique masterpiece while introducing color mixing, centrifugal force, + cause & effect. 2. Liquid Watercolors: Next, we switched to Colorations® Liquid Watercolors & invited children to use pipettes to drip paint onto the spinning paper from their Colorations® Double-Dip Divided Paint Cups. The thinner paint spread quickly, creating delicate splashes, soft blends, & watercolor-like effects. Using pipettes also encouraged precision, concentration, & fine motor development as children experimented with paint amounts, spinner speed, & placement. 3. Markers: For our final invitation, we traded paint for Colorations® Classic Markers. Children held markers against the spinning paper to create circles, spirals, zigzags, & layered designs. By changing pressure, colors, & placement, they discovered endless ways to transform simple lines into intricate artwork. Markers also offered a cleaner spin art option while encouraging children to focus on line, pattern, & design. The Colorations® Giant Spin Art Center is more than a painting tool. Whimsical Woodland STEM Block Building & Loose Parts Play// Transforming a collection of blocks into a thriving woodland world through this open-ended STEM invitation encouraged children to become engineers, architects, & storytellers as they designed whimsical forest habitats where woodland animals could live, explore, & play. To create this invitation, we set everything inside our Excellerations Explorer Tuff Tray with the Grass Playmat, instantly creating a lush forest floor that served as the perfect foundation for imaginative block play. We paired the @tenderleaftoys My Forest Floor block set with Tender Leaf Woodland Animals, then added the @discountschoolsupply Earth Natural Scene Sets + Ice Natural Scene Sets to introduce trees, rivers, rocks, caves, & riverlandscapes that inspired children to design diverse habitats for each woodland creature. Children carefully balanced, stacked, connected, & arranged the beautifully crafted wooden blocks to create winding rivers, bridges, towering mountains, cozy dens, hidden caves, & peaceful forest clearings. As their structures grew, so did their stories, with every animal finding its own special place within the woodland. Block building naturally develops early STEM skills as children experimented with balance, stability, gravity, symmetry, spatial awareness, & engineering design. They test ideas, solved problems, adjust their structures when they topple, & discover how different shapes could be combined to create stronger, more stable builds. Beyond the engineering, this invitation encouraged rich imaginative play & storytelling. Children considered each animal’s needs, creating safe shelters, pathways, gathering spaces, & habitats that reflected how woodland creatures might live in nature. As they described their forests & collaborated with friends, they strengthened expressive language, sequencing, cooperation, & creative thinking. With thoughtfully designed wooden blocks, natural scenery pieces, a grassy forest floor, & endless imagination, an ordinary building invitation becomes an extraordinary journey into engineering, creativity, & the wonders of the forest. #tinkerwonderplay #stemforkids #tufftray
