Models covered: MFCJ5115DW Intro 00:00 Why you would need the password 00:10 Look on the rear panel 0:20 How to read the password 00:30 For machines without tags 00:40 How to enter the password 00:50 Transcript: Today we’re going to locate the default password on your Brother MFCJ5115DW Your machine’s default password is required in order to update the firmware or to access some advanced features If your machine was manufactured in 2020 or later the password will be located on a label on the rear of the machine Your password will be the characters to the right of “PWD” Your password will be exactly eight characters. It will be case sensitive and may include letters, numbers, and symbols For older machines without a password label, use the word “initpass” or the word “access” as the default password. (remove this line for new machines) When prompted, enter the default password into the password field. If the password is not accepted, contact your system administrator and ensure the password has not been changed. Today we’re going to connect you Brother MFC-J6975DW to a Chromebook computer This video will cover multiple models and operating systems even though your machine may not match the model on the screen the overall process will be the same. You will need to gather some information about your wireless network in order to connect your machine. You will need to know the SSID or Network Name of your router or access point and you will need to know your Network Key or password. The default settings for your router or access point can be found on the equipment label. If your SSID or Network Key contain both uppercase and lowercase letters be sure to record them as both of these credentials are case sensitive. You will also need administrator rights. If you have setup up a custom SSID and Network Password and cannot recall this information, please contact your router manufacturer. Setup cannot be accomplished without this information. Begin by pressing the settings icon on the touchscreen Then select the network option Select WLAN Select Find WI-FI Network If prompted to enable WLAN, press Yes. Select you SSID or Network name and press OK Enter your Network key using the touchscreen. Confirm that your Network Key is correct and press OK. Once the wireless connection is made press OK On your Chromebook click the Settings icon. Then click Device. Now click Print Select your Brother Device and click Save. If your Brother device is not listed, you will need to verify that it is connected to the same network as your Chromebook.
